This two year labor of love was constructed while I was a full time college student. During this period of time my relationship with God deepened significantly. I was desperate to make an album that would express what I had learned about God as I'd grown in my relationship with Him. Chief among many revelations was the understanding that God is love. My desire was to intoduce my listeners to the awesome character of God's love as I'd experienced it myself. Spoken Word represents the best that I could offer of myself at that time. It is my gift to you and I hope that you would esteem it as such. Above all though, I hope that this ablum would be an aide in bringing you to know love in the person and wonderful spirit of Jesus Christ.

Born with a heart defect, SYD constantly battled his condition until the age of 16. In spite of his physical and spiritual needs, he ran from God rather than embracing him. Surgery SYD recounts: "After my last open-heart surgery while I was sitting in the hospital bed, I realized I couldnt keep running anymore. It was by his grace that I was even alive." From that moment onward, SYD turned his life over to Christs will. Rooted Nonetheless, SYD's musical origins were not always rooted in Christ. He first began dabbling with his gift while in middle school before becoming a christian. He and his brother formed a group called Dokside (pronounced Darkside) and recorded vocals over their favorite beats on an old tape recorder. Hate As time passed, his talent and interest in music grew. He joined a group called Holokost, using his skills for the very opposite purpose for which they were intended. A former gang member, SYD's lyrical content expressed his inner hate, anger, and despair. The group disbanded and SYD found himself under the tutelage of a local DJ both musically and spiritually. La Familia Soon after, he was introduced to fellow La Familia artist Carlito P. The two MCs created the group Caribbean Outreach and began performing in small local venues. Finally, the group, now renamed S.O.W. (Seeds of Worship) added male vocalist Ryan Horton. The group disbanded in 2005 though all three members are current solo artists under La Familia Muzik. Listening Combining the reggae influences of his island background with the hip-hop sound he learned by listening to artists such as Nas and Jay-Z, SYD offers the best of both worlds. Power Even more importantly within his music, SYD offers the hope of Christ's redemptive power: "God is fulfilling his purpose in my life everyday whether through my music or just through my daily walk. My life is evidence of Gods mercy. Now, I'm taking the gift I've received and bringing it to those that I love, those that I've had to leave behind, and even to those that will only meet me behind a microphone." Touring He has shared the stage with artists such as KJ-52, Cross Movement, Da� T.R.U.T.H., Group 1 Crew, Lecrae, Flame, Trip Lee, Paul Wright, and DecembeRadio.

]]>Chris Greenwood is Manafest from Toronto, Canada. His solodebut got released in 2001 with the EP Misled Youth. Discovered One of his CD's got the attention of leadsinger Trevor McNevan from rockgroup Thousand Foot Krutch, this got him a deal at BEC Recordings. In 2005 his first album for BEC is released entitled Epiphany. Nominations: Dove Awards On February 20th, 2007 it was announced that Manafest's album Glory (2006) is nominated for the 38th Annual GMA Dove Awards in the category Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year. Nominations: Covenant Awards Manafest received three nominations at the 29th Annual Covenant Awards 2007 of the Gospel Music Association Canada (GMA) in the categories: - Artist Of The Year - Recorded Song Of The Year: Bounce - Rap/Hip Hop Album Of The Year: Glory On October 26th, 2007 he took home two awards for Rap/Hip Hop Album Of The Year and Rap/Hip Hop Song Of The Year. ]]>Tommy Kyllonen is the Urban Disciple or better known as Urban D, since the album the Tranzlation of 2001. Philadelphia He got raised in Philadelphia and strayed away from God as a teen, but recommitted his life to Christ at the age of 18. He felt a call from God to go into urban youth ministry and went on to study at Southeastern College in Lakeland, Florida. pastoral studies He graduated in 1996 with a BA degree in pastoral studies and a concentration in youth ministry and released his debut album called "keep it real". Crossover Community Church In that same year Urban D. founded the youth ministry at Crossover Community Church in Tampa, Florida. Over the next six years he developed a first of it's kind hip hop youth ministry. Pastor In January of 2002 Urban D. became the pastor of the church, so the congregation began focusing in on reaching the hip hop culture. A live DJ spins during worship as rappers mix in with the singing. Other aspects of this special outreach are a break dancing class, step team, choir, mc class, drama, open mic, poetry nights, concerts and a DJ/production class. Record Label Urban D also co-founded Fla.vor Alliance in 1998 together with Pablo Olivero (Rize of T.R.I.B.E.) out of the need for more unity and support among hip-hop ministries in the Tampa Bay area. The organisation was first called "Flavor Records", but later on adapted the name "Fla.vor Alliance" in 2000.
